<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;" class="mycode_b">Ingredients:</span><ul class="mycode_list">
</li>
<li>1 can (14 1/2 oz) evaporated milk<br />
</li>
<li>2 cups sugar<br />
</li>
<li>4 oz unsweetened (bakers) chocolate<br />
</li>
<li>1/4 cup butter<br />
</li>
<li>1 tsp vanilla<br />
</li>
<li>1/2 tsp salt<br />
</li></ul>
<br />
Heat milk and sugar to a rolling boil, stirring constantly being careful not to burn the milk. Boil and stir for one minute. Add chocolate, stirring until melted.<br />
Beat over heat until smooth. (If sauce has slightly curdled appearance, beat vigorously until creamy smooth)<br />
Remove from heat, blend in butter, vanilla and salt.<br />

<li>2 Tbsp maple syrup (use the real stuff!)<br />

<li>1 tsp rum or if desired, 1/2 tsp rum flavoring<br />

<li>1/2 cup finely chopped nuts ( I like pecans for this )<br />
</li></ul>

Heat butter over medium heat until golden brown. <br />
Cool.<br />
Gradually add sugar, mixing until smooth. Stir in syrup and water.<br />
Heat to boiling and stir 1 minute. Cool slightly (the sauce thickens as it cools). Stir in rum and nuts.<br />
