Grape molasses - Angie - 09-09-2008 I purchased 100% grape molasses (Koska brand) from an Arabic store on the advice of the store manager (to add to tahini). Now I have a large jar full and don't know what else can be done with it. I don't necessarily need recipies (although it would be nice if you have any), I just need to know what else can be done with this product. It taste like prune juice (only thick like syrup). Any ideas? RE: Grape molasses - Twitchin Kitten - 09-10-2008 OH man, I never heard of adding that to tahini! Was it good? What did you do to the tahini? Did you see my tahini sauce? Did you add it to something like that? Is the stuff good? I wish I had arabic stores by me. We don't have any at all. I gotta make my brother order stuff. Let me ask him. MAYBE he'll know. I think I make more middle eastern dishes than he does. RE: Grape molasses - Angie - 09-11-2008 The grape molasses is very tasty I just don't have anything else to use it with. I sweetened the tahini with it because I was trying to do something different with my nori roll dipping sauce. It was very good and the entire family loves it. They want it from now on...I still like my spices and other flavors though I think I will try to make some gingerbread cookies with it or something like that. I just haven't had the urge to bake anything lately though. Ask your bro what else would be a good use for this product. RE: Grape molasses - Twitchin Kitten - 09-12-2008 He's never heard of it Angie. I'll have to do some deep digging in my Middle Eastern cook books for this. I wonder if it's a particular Mid East country's specialty? I found two links on the net: http://www.turkishcookbook.com/2007/01/tahini-grape-molasses.php and this one from wikipedia where it mentions how it is used and other types of molasses: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molasses RE: Grape molasses - Angie - 09-16-2008 good links. I think I will just bake some cookies and cakes and see if it gives a different flavor when added Cross your fingers. |
