How to calculate recipe portions and calorie count per portion

You must use ounces or grams for your food size calculation.
You need to find a source of information that lists calories for each food item. There are lots of apps to help you with this or find an online calorie counter. My LoseIT! phone app has this built in for me and this is what I use.
  1. Figure out the ingredient sizes in ounces
  2. Find the amount of calories for each ingredient
  3. ADD the total amount of calories for each ingredient
  4. ADD the total amount of ounces for your ingredients
  5. Decide the portion size for your recipe
  6. DIVIDE the total size of the ingredients by the determined portion size
  7. DIVIDE the total calorie amount by the answer of the determined portion size
Once you get your calories per portion number round UP. Never round down.
