*I am sticking this because something so decadent should never be lost in a long list of threads!
This is sinful, delicious, not convienient to make, but WELL worth the trouble.
This is NOT Low calories!
Thanks to Frugal Gourmet for this one!
calories: Per 8 ounces -
(with milk) 460
(with 1/2 & 1/2) 580
Hot Chocolate To DIE For!
For each cup, in a double boiler, combine:
2 to 3 ounces milk chocolate I use Cadbury candy bars!
1 teaspoon butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Stir together until completely melted and smooth. Then add:
1 cup half and half or cream I use whole milk if the latter is not on hand
Add the half and half slowly, incorporating it gradually as it heats, but do not boil.
Serve over a handful of mini marshmallows and garnish with a dash of nutmeg.
variations:
Substitute dark (semisweet) chocolate or white chocolate (very elegant!).
Try adding liqueurs, ie: Kahlua (for milk chocolate)
Cointreau ( for dark chocolate)
Peppermint Schnapps (for white chocolate)
