Healthy*ish Soda - Twitchin Kitten - 04-02-2008

Any mom's out there cringe at the thought of giving your kids soda? There will come a day when the tiny tots discover the stuff and start asking for it too. I know some of my friends with kids simply give the diet stuff, but the artificial sweeteners are not too healthy for us either, another double edge sword in our food enjoyment.
Well, my friend saw me making something one day and started making it for her kids. They've been drinking this for 15 years now! They loved it right from the start.

I take juice, any flavor I like, and fill the glass about 3/4 the way full, then simply add enough seltzer (not club soda. club soda has salt) to fill the glass.

It makes less gassy soda or more gassy as per your taste, just adjust the amount of juice to seltzer ratio.

At least this way, kids, (and us ) are getting something healthy in their beverage! AND they think they are getting what their friends get as well.

I haven't been able to replicate cola, but orange juice is quite refreshing.

Also, take some of that juice and make ice cubes out of it to use in that soda.

I like this stuff in the summer because if I take the juice ice cubes, I can make a smoothie with them by adding a bit of plain yogurt and the ice, toss in a blender and drink up
