Habanero Honey BBQ Sauce - Twitchin Kitten - 04-06-2008

This is delicious on ribs, chicken and anything else you like to slather BBQ sauce on! Use Mango Ranch dipping sauce (will post!) to accompany this!

*note: make sure to use rubber gloves while handling the habanero peppers! If you forget and then touch your face, you will be sorry!

This recipe is enough for 30 wings! Keeps in the 'fridge very well too!

Habanero Honey BBQ Sauce

Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 6 ounce can tomato paste
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup molasses
1 teaspoon minced habanero pepper (about 1 pepper)
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon dried minced onion
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon hickory smoke flavoring (liquid smoke)
1/3 cup white vinegar

Combine all ingredients except the vinegar in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer sauce for 1 hour uncovered, or until the sauce reduces to about half it's original volume and thickens.
Remove sauce from heat, mix in vinegar and cover when cooled.

We made more of this and quadrupled the recipe. It yielded two full quarts!
